I have become a regular bike commuter. Looking back at the day I took the MSF (US), I was refrained from using 2 fingers on the brake. With today sports bike's dual 4-pot front calipers (perhaps not the same on a cruiser), the force from 2 fingers is just right. 4 is too much, esp for the inexperienced and at slow speed. In fact that handful grab cost my first drop. Ever since using merely 2, I'm in more control of braking. The bike is much stabler under emergency stops and during slow turns. 2 fingers is adequate. Push steering, too, I primarily use the inner arm. The outer is relaxed. Less force is asserted and results a much smoother ride. That resembles from flying a plane: only 1 hand on the yoke. 2 makes it choppy.
Less is more.
Never touched the clutch till the full stop.
