hang off

Lee Parks is a familiar name for anyone interested in better riding. Not just here in the west coast but throughout the country. Even if you haven't met him in person, you likely have seen his book, Total Control.
I had the privilege to get coached by Lee and his team this late Fall. The class was big, about 20 bikes by 4 instructors, including Lee himself. We only had 1 star cruiser and the rest were filled by sports, touring and a couple supermotos. It was a full day class. We started off with throttle controls @1st gear and spent most time on turning circles, figure 8 and hanging off. The hanging off was the most frightening but the most rewarding exercise. Straightened the outer arm, tuck in my toes, slid the butt out, stuck out my knee and looked in the turn. By the road noise, I knew I was close to the ground. Didn't scrape though like another did, but I was told I was really low and relaxed. The bike felt weightless and I really had a huge amount of control. Truly applied what was described in the book.
It was an amazing day! Not only the instructors were incredible but we really had good classmates. Everyone was easy to talk to. I think I will come back to Level 1 once again before move on to Level2. It was THAT good!
