bedtime stories

I don't remember since when I start reading before going to sleep. Like those keep buying things to read but can't find other time to do so, I too queue them up along on the bedside. I read novels, DIYs, biographies, and these days I am hooked on riding books. I believe there are 2 systems of learning. Trail n error and theory based. For a subject that has been around for decades like riding a motorcycle, I believe we all can benefit from the knowledge of our predecessors without putting ourselves on the line every time.
Total Control steers towards performance riding and body positions. Though it focuses a lot on dragging knees which I don't expect to do on the street, I learned about using the body and leg out to help turning. I lean to feed gravity so the bike doesn't. The bike feels more stable and faster through the turns. And it helps my eyes look through turns too. The book covers a lot on the suspension as well but perhaps will be more useful someday. Reading Proficient Motorcycling is like talking to an old man. If Total Control was a bullet point manual, Proficient Motorcycling would be a 300 page story book. It offers a lot more street riding advice and survival strategies than merely going fast. It covers rain gears, lane splitting and animals. It's more comprehensive and preferably to be read cover to cover.
Only if every rider does the reading before trail n error on the street.
